LAREDO ENERGY CENTER

Laredo Energy Center

The new Laredo Energy Center replaced three existing natural gas and oil-fired units at the Laredo, Texas power generating facility with two natural gas LMS100 simple cycle natural gas turbines.

Together, the units are summer rated at 190 MW (200 MW winter capacity). The most efficient new peaking generation in ERCOT, the LMS 100 combines operational flexibility, high efficiency, reliability and maintainability in one revolutionary gas turbine that economically satisfies the dispatch needs of nearly every market condition. A combination of proven frame and aeroderivative gas turbine technologies, the units deliver over 100 MW with simple-cycle thermal efficiency from 44 to 50%. Laredo is expected to begin commercial operations in Summer 2008.

As a part of GE Energy's ecomagination portfolio, the LMS100 offers a wide range of operating flexibility for peaking, mid-range and base-load operation with lower start-up emissions and 10-minute starts.
